The 4th International Children's Music Festival

Join us for the 4th anniversary session of this rapidly growing global event. Share your talents and build bridges internationally as you travel and perform in Japan. What better place to experience Japan than brilliant and lush Yamagata Japan on the norhtern tip of the main island of Honshu. We look forward to seeing you there.

June 12 (Tue)

Visiting music groups arrive at Narita airport, stay in Tokyo

Olympic Youth center

June 13 (Wed)

Music groups arrive at Shonai airport from Haneda Airport

Opening Ceremony & Welcome Reception at Shirai Nature Center in Yuza Town

Meet with the host families

Home stay

June 14 (Thu)

Local Program (visit local schools, cultural events, sight-seeing, workshops) Local areas include Tsuruoka City, Shonai Town, Sakata City, & Yuza Town

Other Activities
  • Visit local schools and meet school children
  • Experience the Shonai area of Yamagata- a traditional Japanese castle town, a holy mountain designated a National Monument, and many historical buildings and sights
  • Workshops learning Japanese music with Japanese directors.

How to Register

Applicants should send their application form, with the items listed below to MWT Events, according to the following schedule.

Due December 31, 2006:

  • In Harmony Application Form
  • Due March 10, 2007

    Electronic (e-mail) submission of the following items is required
    • Group biography and picture
    • Conductor biography and picture
    • Group logo
    • List of group members including staff names and titles

    Due April 10, 2007

    • Full payment
    • Host family placement questionnaire for everyone doing homestay, and the list of children’s pairing
    • Repertoire list (pieces and composers to be selected from for all concerts)
    • Festival T-shirt sizes for everyone
    • Number of hotel rooms needed with names for each room

    ※Hotel fee is not included in the festival cost. - More information on hotel rates will be available soon.
