A: Yes, you will need a passport to go to Japan. You DO NOT need to apply for a Visa.
Q: Should I bring travelers checks or cash?
A: We recommend exchanging cash at the airport, or getting cash from an ATM card at most post offices. Cash is always widely accepted. Most smaller retails shops will not accept travelers checks or credit cards. Most traditional Japanese restaurants or quick eateries do not accept credit cards. Small street side shops or vendors do not accept credit cards. All hotels and most large restaurants and retailers accept major credit cards and travelers checks. Japan is relatively safe, so we usualy suggest bringing some cash to exchange at the airport.
Q: Will I have a hard time getting around if I am in a wheel chair?
A: Japan, though modern, has some challenges for those with disabilities. Most major train stations have disability access, but not all.
